Review of Chillerama

To say Sin City and 300 were visual game changers in film would be a major understatement. Their CGI was specifically tailored to reflect the films' comic strip (yes, "comic strip", not "graphic novel") origins, providing them with an otherworldly feel that is somewhat divorced from reality. Film is an escapist medium knowning that pioneering CGI did much to strengthen that state of unreality. Immortals, directed by Tarsem Singh (The Cell), follows that trend. It is visually stunning and perhaps one of the better representations of motion art in recent memory. Many scenes are shot that they were paintings become more active. Rich tones of luminescent gold and vibrant crimson red dominate the film, with darkest marble and dark blue hues supplied on the other hand, especially showing the difference involving the divine (the Greek Gods) and also the secular (humanity). However, this process works both for and contrary to the film. Instead of a war of gods, were presented with a superhero comic film dressed up in mythological attire.

3D systems have been in existence for more than a century, nevertheless it has not been maximized. Now the technology is not just being enhanced, it can be being helpful to the fullest. The recent discharge of Samsung BD-C6900, the first-ever 3D Blu-Ray DVD player, received this kind of warm welcome. These were sold out like hotcakes for your price of $399 in Amazon.

However, it must be said, the top Japanese films are invariably peppered with graphic violence. Of course, I'm not so sick as to enjoy watching an hour and a half of constant blood and gore, though the occasional battle intertwined in just a twisted, gripping plot is one area which all of the top Japanese films invariably possess. Take the classic Battle Royale: Everybody knows it's got deep meaning behind the inevitable bloodbath. I just love the cold, harsh reality of this kind of game that will never happen: it's being a film version of Richard Dawkins' The Selfish Gene. Girls who claim these are friends in the normal school environment wind up poisoning and shooting eachother in the game, since the true nature with their friendship is exposed. And that's what this film is all about: real love, true friendship. That between Noriko and Nanahara is real love: sacrificing all on your soulmate; and Kawada's relationship with the two is another sort of love, often known as friendship.

"50/50″ could be the most innocent and delightful rated R movie that I've ever seen before. It was odd watching a motion picture that is clearly rated properly, be so uplifting and positive. In the end, I liked this movie a good deal. Not only was it the funniest movie that I've seen all year, but it also stood only behind "Warrior" as the most popular movie of year so far. With a smart script, good directing, and excellent casting, this movie doesn't need any negatives that I can imagine and appears to hit on all cylinders. "50/50″ isn't only a great film, but it's also one I can truly appreciate on the personal level. I originally considered not even watching this movie, but I'm glad I did. This is definitely a motion picture worth watching.
